GoACon was awesome.  The opportunity to meet other clubs, members, and the GoA Team was not to be missed and a great chance to leave the village.

A Visit to the Mystic Monks

On the return trip back from Outdshoorn, we took a turn past the Mystic Monk and were touched and left completely in awe of the wonderful work that they do.  Settled in a valley in the middle of a township, they have created what we think is a little slice of heaven.

Fathers Mark and Wim head this group of fine gentlemen and ladies.  Finding their home in a beautiful valley that was once a landfill, this reclaimed site is now a valley abundant with a variety of plants.  The team has planted a labyrinth made out of spekboom.  A variety of vegetables and abundant herbs are planted throughout the property.

This amazing place’s team has built various structures including playgrounds, stairwells across the valley, greenhouse tunnels, and animal pens.  From toddlers to adolescents the Church provides spiritual guidance, support, daycare, junior and adolescent recreation rooms, a library, meals, and care for a variety of animals.  They have resident peacocks, geese, ducks, and a special 20-year-old tortoise named Esmeralda.

When it comes to a feeding scheme, these fine people have taken it next level.  These folks feed FOUR HUNDRED CHILDREN DAILY!

Not forgetting any soul in need, they have also set up container homes for homeless people.

Charity

In the background, amidst setting up a new venture in crazy times, in a crazy industry, The Green Mammoth has been looking for an organisation that we can support.   Already a huge fan of the Mystic Monks & the work that they do, we decided to nominate the Mystic Monks as a beneficiary for any charitable events we will be hosting in the future.

We are appealing for your help to support the fantastic folks at the Church whose work with their community is something to be admired.  Donations points for the Mystic Monk are open at the club and direct donations can be made directly to them.

With Christmas just around the corner, the pressure on these amazing humans is even greater as they have so many little lives depending on what the Church can bring to the table to make Christmas a success for the underprivileged that they care for.  Please consider helping the Mystic Monk this Christmas and/or possibly into the New Year.  These amazing humans are worthy of our help.
